The Prince Alfred is a classic example of a late Victorian public house featuring an abundance of beautifully carved mahogany & sparkling etched & cut glass.
Come and spend some time in one of our original Victorian snugs. Each has its own door from the street & is separated by a wooden partition with a small access door. Try our extensive drinks list with wine and beer from near and far. Or sample our tasty great British bar snacks, we serve them all day every day.
Welcome to the new look Formosa Dining Room where we pride ourselves on warm and friendly service and build our menus around the best seasonal British ingredients.
Enjoy Dorset Lamb Fillet, Duck Breast or on a Sunday come along for one of our fine Sunday roasts. Finish off a meal (or simply head straight for desserts) with our deliciously naughty sticky toffee pudding. Our beautifully re-furbished dining room seats up to sixty people and all dishes are lovingly served from the buzz of our open kitchen.

We take reservations for lunch, dinner, nibbles or simply drinks. Depending on what will suit your occasion best, you can order from our main menu or daily specials on the day.
Alternatively, you can pre-order from our buffet board menu. Of course, you are always welcome to come along & help yourself to a table. We never reserve the outdoor seating and if you’re lucky the sun might even shine (bring a brolly just in case)
Why not check out our cellars? This stunning secret room beneath the dining room's floor boards was originally used for storing coal. It's now been transformed into a fantastic area for private dining & drinks receptions for up to 28 people.Make booking
